Abstract
A method for servicing an object via a mobile platform includes maintaining a distance between the mobile platform and the object and performing a task for the object while maintaining the distance.
Claims15
A method for servicing an object via a mobile platform, comprising:
- obtaining an orientation of the object via one or more control points each having a predetermined relationship with the object;
- obtaining a position of a selected service point of the object based on at least a position and the orientation of the object;
- moving the mobile platform toward the selected service point of the object;
- maintaining a distance between the mobile platform and the object;
- and
- performing a task for the object while maintaining the distance.

- a trip controller operating onboard a mobile platform and configured to direct the mobile platform to:
- obtain an orientation of the object via one or more control points each having a predetermined relationship with the object;
- obtain a position of a selected service point of the object based on at least a position and the orientation of the object;
- move the mobile platform toward the selected service point of the object;
- maintain a distance between the mobile platform and the object;
- and
- perform a task for the object at the maintained distance.
