Abstract
Described herein is a centralized order computing system that is configured to receive orders from a plurality of sources. The plurality of sources can include delivery applications, remote customer computing devices, and/or service computing devices associated with a merchant. The centralized order computing system may be configured to receive a plurality of orders from the plurality of sources, send the plurality of orders to a kitchen computing system associated with the merchant, receive a notification of order completion, and process the order.
Claims20
A system comprising:
- one or more processors;
- one or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing instructions executable by the one or more processors, wherein the instructions program the one or more processors to perform acts comprising:
- receiving, by a computing device associated with a merchant and over a network, first payment information and a first order of a plurality of orders from a first delivery application of a plurality of delivery applications, wherein the plurality of orders comprises orders for food or drink menu items, the first order comprising a first set of menu items, the computing device associated with the merchant comprising a centralized order processing system configured to communicate over the network with a plurality of remote computing devices associated with the plurality of delivery applications and with a kitchen display computing system associated with the merchant, the plurality of delivery applications being independent of one another and independent of the merchant;
- receiving, by the computing device associated with the merchant and over the network, second payment information and a second order of the plurality of orders from a second delivery application of the plurality of delivery applications, the second order comprising a second set of menu items, the second order being received by the computing device within a threshold amount of time of the first order;
- determining a plurality of item preparation times, wherein at least one item preparation time is associated with each menu item of the first set of menu items and second set of menu items;
- estimating a first completion time associated with the first order and a second completion time associated with the second order, wherein the first completion time and the second completion time are based at least in part on the item preparation times;
- sending, over the network, a first notification to the first delivery application and a second notification to the second delivery application, the first notification comprising a first estimated time for a delivery pick-up corresponding to the first order and the second notification comprising a second estimated time for a delivery pick-up corresponding to the second order, wherein the first estimated time is based at least in part on the first completion time and the second estimated time is based at least in part on the second completion time;
- generating a sequenced list of the first set of menu items and the second set of menu items, wherein the sequence comprises the order in which the first set of menu items and the second set of menu items are prepared, wherein the sequenced list comprises individual menu items of the first set of menu items at least partially interspersed with individual menu items of the second set of menu items, and wherein the sequenced list is ordered based at least in part on the item preparation times, the first completion time, and the second completion time;
- sending the sequenced list to the kitchen display computing system over the network for preparation of the first set of menu items and the second set of menu items based on the sequenced list;
- receiving, from the kitchen display computing system, an indication of a delay in at least one of preparation or completion for one or more menu items of the first set of menu items and a cause of the delay
- responsive to receiving the indication of the delay, automatically sending, to at least one of a service computing device associated with the merchant or a base station device associated with the merchant, a third notification of the delay and the cause of the delay;
- and
- responsive to receiving the indication of the delay, automatically sending, to the first delivery application, a fourth notification indicating an update in the first estimated time for delivery pick-up.
A method comprising:
- receiving, by a first computing device associated with a merchant and over a network, a plurality of orders for items offered by the merchant from a plurality of ordering applications independent of the merchant, wherein the first computing device associated with the merchant comprises a centralized order processing system configured to communicate over the network with a plurality of remote computing devices associated with the plurality of ordering applications and a second computing device associated with the merchant, wherein the plurality of orders comprises orders for food or drink items;
- determining one or more items associated with a first order and a second order of the plurality of orders, the second order being received within a threshold amount of time of the first order, wherein the first order is associated with a first ordering application of the plurality of ordering applications and the second order is associated with a second ordering application of the plurality of ordering applications;
- determining item preparation times corresponding to individual items of the one or more items;
- based at least in part on the item preparation time associated with individual items of the one or more items, estimating respective order completion times associated with the first order and the second order;
- sending, to a remote computing device associated with the first ordering application, a first notification indicating an estimated time for delivery pick-up corresponding to the first order;
- generating a sequenced list of the one or more items, wherein the sequence comprises the order in which the one or more items are prepared, wherein the sequenced list comprises one or more first items of the first order at least partially interspersed with one or more second items of the second order, and wherein the sequenced list is ordered based at least in part on respective item preparation times of the one or more items;
- sending the sequenced list to the second computing device associated with the merchant over the network for preparation of the one or more items based on the sequenced list;
- receiving, from the second computing device, an indication of a delay in at least one of preparation or completion for at least one of the one or more items;
- responsive to receiving the indication, sending, to at least one of a service computing device associated with the merchant or a base station device associated with the merchant, a second notification of the delay;
- and
- responsive to receiving the indication, sending, to the remote computing device associated with the first ordering application, a third notification indicating an update in the estimated time for delivery pick-up corresponding to the first order.
A centralized order processing computing device associated with a merchant and configured to communicate over a network with a plurality of remote computing devices associated with a plurality of independent ordering applications and a second computing device associated with the merchant, the centralized order processing computing device comprising:
- one or more processors;
- one or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing instructions executable by the one or more processors, wherein the instructions program the one or more processors to perform acts comprising:
- receiving a plurality of orders for items offered by the merchant from the plurality of independent ordering applications;
- determining one or more items associated with individual orders of the plurality of orders;
- determining item preparation times corresponding to individual items of the one or more items;
- based at least in part on the item preparation time associated with each individual item, estimating respective order completion times associated with the individual orders;
- generating a sequenced list of the one or more items associated with individual orders of the plurality of orders, wherein the sequenced list comprises one or more first items of a first order of the plurality of orders at least partially interspersed with one or more second items of a second order of the plurality of orders, and wherein the sequenced list is ordered based at least in part on respective item preparation times of the one or more items associated with the individual orders;
- sending, to a remote computing device associated with a first independent ordering application associated with the first order, a first notification indicating an estimated time for delivery pick-up corresponding to the first order;
- sending, over the network, the sequenced list to the second computing device associated with the merchant for preparation of one or more items based on the sequenced list;
- receiving, from a kitchen display computing system associated with the merchant, an indication of a delay in at least one of preparation or completion for one or more items of the first order;
- responsive to receiving the indication, automatically sending, to at least one of a service computing device associated with the merchant or a base station device associated with the merchant, a second notification of the delay and the cause of the delay;
- and
- responsive to receiving the indication, automatically sending, to the first independent delivery application, a third notification indicating an update in the first estimated time for delivery pick-up.
