Abstract
Configuration state registers grouped based on functional affinity. An identification of an in-memory configuration state register for which memory is assigned is obtained. Based on the identification, an offset into the memory at which the in-memory configuration state register is stored is determined. The offset is allocated to the in-memory configuration state register based on functional affinity of the in-memory configuration state register. The in-memory configuration state register is accessed using at least the offset.
Claims20
A computer program product for facilitating processing within a computing environment, the computer program product comprising:
- at least one computer readable storage medium readable by at least one processing circuit and storing instructions for performing a method comprising:
- obtaining an identification of an in-memory configuration state register for which memory is assigned, the in-memory configuration state register being a register configured specifically for a particular operation and wherein the in-memory configuration state register is one in-memory configuration state register of a plurality of in-memory configuration state registers used for the particular operation, the plurality of in-memory configuration state registers used for the particular operation including one or more in-memory configuration state registers for the particular operation that have non-contiguous register numbers to one or more other in-memory configuration state registers for the particular operation, the plurality of in-memory configuration state registers being grouped together in memory based on being used for particular operation, and wherein the particular operation comprises event based branch handling;
- determining, based on the identification, an offset into the memory at which the in-memory configuration state register is stored, the offset being allocated to the in-memory configuration state register based on the particular operation for which the in-memory configuration state register is configured;
- and
- accessing the in-memory configuration state register using at least the offset.
A computer system for facilitating processing within a computing environment, the computer system comprising:
- a memory;
- and
- a processor in communication with the memory, wherein the computer system is configured to perform a method, said method comprising:
- obtaining an identification of an in-memory configuration state register for which memory is assigned, the in-memory configuration state register being a register configured specifically for a particular operation and wherein the in-memory configuration state register is one in-memory configuration state register of a plurality of in-memory configuration state registers used for the particular operation, the plurality of in-memory configuration state registers used for the particular operation including one or more in-memory configuration state registers for the particular operation that have non-contiguous register numbers to one or more other in-memory configuration state registers for the particular operation, the plurality of in-memory configuration state registers being grouped together in memory based on being used for particular operation, and wherein the particular operation comprises event based branch handling;
- determining, based on the identification, an offset into the memory at which the in-memory configuration state register is stored, the offset being allocated to the in-memory configuration state register based on the particular operation for which the in-memory configuration state register is configured;
- and
- accessing the in-memory configuration state register using at least the offset.
A computer-implemented method of facilitating processing within a computing environment, the computer-implemented method comprising:
- obtaining an identification of an in-memory configuration state register for which memory is assigned, the in-memory configuration state register being a register configured specifically for a particular operation and wherein the in-memory configuration state register is one in-memory configuration state register of a plurality of in-memory configuration state registers used for the particular operation, the plurality of in-memory configuration state registers used for the particular operation including one or more in-memory configuration state registers for the particular operation that have non-contiguous register numbers to one or more other in-memory configuration state registers for the particular operation, the plurality of in-memory configuration state registers being grouped together in memory based on being used for particular operation, and wherein the particular operation comprises event based branch handling;
- determining, based on the identification, an offset into the memory at which the in-memory configuration state register is stored, the offset being allocated to the in-memory configuration state register based on the particular operation for which the in-memory configuration state register is configured;
- and
- accessing the in-memory configuration state register using at least the offset.
