Abstract
An ophthalmic device includes an enclosure that is compatible for wearing in or on an eye. An adjustable lens is disposed within the enclosure. Driver circuitry is disposed within the enclosure and coupled to drive the adjustable lens and change its optical power. Built-in-self-test (BIST) circuitry is disposed within the enclosure and coupled to the adjustable lens. The BIST circuitry includes an impedance measurement circuit coupled to selectively measure an impedance of the adjustable lens. A controller is disposed within the enclosure and includes BIST control logic that measures the impedance of the adjustable lens with the impedance measurement circuit to determine a health status of the adjustable lens.
Claims11
An ophthalmic device, comprising:
- an enclosure that is compatible for wearing in or on an eye;
- an adjustable lens including drive terminals disposed within the enclosure;
- driver circuitry disposed within the enclosure and coupled to the drive terminals to drive the adjustable lens and change an optical power of the adjustable lens via the drive terminals;
- built-in-self-test (BIST) circuitry disposed within the enclosure and coupled to the adjustable lens, the BIST circuitry including an impedance measurement circuit coupled to selectively measure an impedance of the adjustable lens across the drive terminals of the adjustable lens;
- and
- a controller disposed within the enclosure and including BIST control logic that, when executed by the controller, causes the controller to perform operations including:
- measuring the impedance of the adjustable lens across the drive terminals with the impedance measurement circuit to determine a health status of the adjustable lens, wherein the health status includes a determination that the adjustable lens is at least one of operational, defective, or near-defective based upon the impedance.
