Abstract
There is provided an optical-electrical hybrid module including a substrate on which a plurality of optical communication modules are arranged, the plurality of optical communication modules transmitting or receiving an optical signal through an optical fiber cable and performing conversion between the optical signal and an electrical signal. A shield case covering the optical communication modules includes a surface inclined in a direction away from a position in which the optical fiber cable is mounted to each optical communication module.
Claims21
An optical device comprising:
- a wiring substrate;
- a shield case;
- and
- in a cross-section view, a first portion, a second portion, and a third portion,
- the first portion includes
- a first component including a light emission element and a light detection element on which an optical element is attached, wherein the first component is configured to couple to at least one optical fiber, and
- a first horizontal surface of the shield case that covers the first component, the second portion includes
- a second component mounted on the wiring substrate, and
- a second horizontal surface of the shield case that covers the second component, and the third portion includes
- an inclined surface of the shield case between the first horizontal surface and the second horizontal surface,
- wherein a surface of the wiring substrate facing the first horizontal surface and the second horizontal surface defines a first plane,
- wherein, in the first portion, the light emission element and the light detection element are entirely between the first horizontal surface and the first plane, and
- wherein a light emission direction from the light emission element to the at least one optical fiber and a light reception direction from the at least one optical fiber to the light detection element are parallel to the first horizontal surface.
A system comprising:
- a first optical device;
- a second optical device;
- a first optical fiber coupled to the first optical device;
- a second optical fiber extending over the first optical device and coupled to the second optical device,
- wherein the first optical device includes
- a wiring substrate;
- a shield case;
- and
- in a cross-section view, a first portion, a second portion, and a third portion,
- the first portion includes
- a first component including a light emission element and a light detection element on which an optical element is attached, wherein the first component is configured to couple to at least the first optical fiber, and
- a first horizontal surface of the shield case that covers the first component, the second portion includes
- a second component mounted on the wiring substrate, and
- a second horizontal surface of the shield case that covers the second component, and
- the third portion includes
- an inclined surface of the shield case between the first horizontal surface and the second horizontal surface,
- wherein a surface of the wiring substrate facing the first horizontal surface and the second horizontal surface defines a first plane,
- wherein, in the first portion, the light emission element and the light detection element are entirely between the first horizontal surface and the first plane, and
- wherein a light emission direction from the light emission element to the at least one optical fiber and a light reception direction from the at least one optical fiber to the light detection element are parallel to the first horizontal surface.
