Automatic uplink weather information sharing

A ground-based system for automatically communicating crowdsourced weather information, comprising:

• at least one transceiver configured to communicate with a plurality of vehicles via one or more communication links;
• a weather data processing system coupled to the at least one transceiver, the weather data processing system comprising at least one processor coupled to a memory, wherein the at least one processor is configured to:
• receive weather information from the plurality of vehicles;
• aggregate the weather information received from the plurality of vehicles and store the aggregated weather information in the memory;
• predict future positions of a first vehicle of the plurality of vehicles at a plurality of selected times corresponding to non-uniform time intervals;
• determine relevant aggregated weather information for the future positions of the first vehicle at the plurality of selected times corresponding to the non-uniform time intervals;
• and
• automatically transmit the relevant aggregated weather information to the first vehicle via the one or more communication links at the plurality of selected times corresponding to the non-uniform time intervals.
