Abstract
The present invention provides for a polyketide synthase (PKS) capable of synthesizing a carboxylic acid, said PKS comprising a synthetic or hybrid module. The present invention also provides for a host cell comprising the PKS and when cultured produces the carboxylic acid. In some embodiments, the carboxylic acid is adipic acid.
Claims5
A polyketide synthase (PKS) capable of synthesizing a carboxylic acid, said PKS comprising a synthetic module comprising SEQ ID NO:1 or SEQ ID NO:2, or a functional variant thereof comprising (i) an amino acid sequence at least 95% identical to SEQ ID NO:1 or SEQ ID NO:2, and (ii) the amino acid residues from position 1 to position 892 of SEQ ID NO:1, wherein the PKS is capable of synthesizing a carboxylic acid.
