Abstract
A vehicle includes a frame, first and second mounting brackets, and a suspension system. The frame includes a first member and a second member. Each of the first and second member have an opening. A bracket is disposed proximal each of the first and second member. The suspension system includes first and second swing arms coupled to the first and second members, and a bar extending through the first and second openings that is rotatably coupled to the first and second mounting brackets with a first bushing and a second bushing. The ends of the bar extend outward of the first and second frame members. The ends are coupled to bending portions that extend from the ends towards the first and second swing arms, which are further coupled to links that connect the bending portions to the swing arms.
Claims15
A vehicle, comprising:
- a frame comprising a first member and a second member, the first member including a first opening, the second member including a second opening, wherein the first member and the second member are spaced a distance apart from one another in at least one position;
- a first mounting bracket disposed proximal the first member;
- a second mounting bracket disposed proximal the second member, at least one of the first mounting bracket and the second mounting bracket further comprising:
- a first panel that is substantially parallel to a surface of at least one of the first member and the second member;
- a bar opening disposed on the first panel, the bar opening configured to receive one of the first end and the second end, the bar opening substantially aligned with one of the first opening and the second opening;
- and
- a second panel that extends substantially perpendicular to the first panel, the second panel including a gap configured to receive one of the first end and the second end, the gap substantially aligned with the bar opening;
- and
- a suspension system, the suspension system comprising:
- a first swing arm coupled to the first member;
- a second swing arm coupled to the second member;
- and
- a sway bar assembly extending through the first opening and the second opening and being rotatably coupled to the first mounting bracket and the second mounting bracket, the sway bar assembly comprising:
- a bar including a first end and a second end, the first end extending outward of the first member, the second end extending outward of the second member;
- a first bending portion coupled to the first end of the bar;
- a second bending portion coupled to the second end of the bar;
- a first link coupling the first bending portion to the first swing arm;
- and
- a second link coupling the second bending portion to the second swing arm.
