Sequenced applications for controlling communication features

A method comprising:

• receiving, by a microprocessor, from an application framework, a registration to be notified of an event managed by a service gateway, wherein the application framework is separated from a user communication endpoint and/or an external application by a network and wherein the event is based on a communication service provided by the service gateway;
• detecting, by the microprocessor, the event;
• sending, by the microprocessor, a notification associated with the event to the application framework;
• receiving, by the microprocessor, from the application framework, an object associated with the event, wherein the object associated with the event further comprises extension information that is not used by the communication service provided by the service gateway;
• and
• sending, by the microprocessor, a message to the user communication endpoint and/or the external application that comprises the object.

A method comprising:

• sending, by a microprocessor executing an application framework, to a service gateway, a registration to be notified of an event managed by the service gateway, wherein the application framework is separated from a user communication endpoint and/or an external application by a network and wherein the event is based on a communication service provided by the service gateway;
• receiving, by the microprocessor and from the service gateway, a notification associated with the event;
• and
• sending, by the microprocessor, to the service gateway, an object associated with the event, wherein the object associated with the event further comprises extension information that is not used by the communication service provided by the service gateway, and wherein the service gateway sends a message to the user communication endpoint and/or the external application that comprises the object.
