Method of setting initial position of camera, camera, and camera system

A camera, comprising:

• an imaging unit including an imaging lens and an imaging element;
• a pan mechanism, including a stepping motor, that rotates the imaging unit in a pan direction with respect to a camera body;
• an input unit, including a reset button, that receives reset;
• and
• a controller configured to:
• operate the imaging unit to continuously acquire an image from the imaging unit when receiving the reset using the input unit;
• detect a subject for automatic tracking on the basis of the image that is acquired;
• control the pan mechanism to move the imaging unit to an initial position when receiving the reset using the input unit;
• and
• control the pan mechanism to automatically track the subject on the basis of a position in the image of the subject that is detected,
• wherein the controller performs a first rotation of the pan mechanism in a first preset rotation direction to a first pan position when receiving the reset using the input unit, performs a second rotation of the pan mechanism in a second rotation direction opposite to the first rotation direction toward a second pan position, and performs switching to automatic tracking by the controller when the controller detects the subject during the second rotation of the pan mechanism.
