Storage system root cause analysis and monitoring

A computer program product comprising a non-transitory computer readable storage medium having a computer readable program stored therein, wherein the computer readable program, when executed on a computing device, causes the computing device to:

• identify a set of objects within a storage system, wherein the identification of the set of objects is performed by at least one of a topology discovery or a data structure search;
• for each object in the set of objects, identify one or more interconnections to one or more other objects in the set of objects, wherein the identification of the one or more interconnections is performed by at least one of the topology discovery or the data structure search;
• and
• generate a view of the storage system in a graphical user interface showing each of the objects in the set of objects and, for each object in the set of objects, the one or more interconnections to one or more other objects in the set of objects.

An apparatus comprising:

• a processor;
• and
• a memory coupled to the processor, wherein the memory comprises instructions which, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:
• identify a set of objects within a storage system, wherein the identification of the set of objects is performed by at least one of a topology discovery or a data structure search;
• for each object in the set of objects, identify one or more interconnections to one or more other objects in the set of objects, wherein the identification of the one or more interconnections is performed by at least one of the topology discovery or the data structure search;
• and
• generate a view of the storage system in a graphical user interface showing each of the objects in the set of objects and, for each object in the set of objects, the one or more interconnections to one or more other objects in the set of objects.
