Abstract
Z-filters capable of cleaning particulate matter from airflow streams in dust collectors, including reverse flow, reverse air, and reverse pulse systems.
Claims15
An air filter cartridge comprising:
- (a) a coiled media pack having a first flow face and an opposite second flow face;
- the media pack including:
- (i) a set of inlet flutes open at the first flow face to passage of air to be filtered therein;
- (ii) a set of outlet flutes open at the second flow face;
- (iii) the media pack being closed to flow of unfiltered air into the first flow face and then outwardly from the second flow face without filtering;
- (b) the media pack having first and second rounded ends with first and second straight sides in complete extension therebetween;
- (i) the media pack having a length extending along a straight line from a center of the first rounded end to a center of the second rounded end;
- (i) the media pack having a first width between the first and second straight sides;
- the first width being perpendicular to the length;
- (ii) the media pack having a second width thereacross extending between portions of one of the first and second rounded ends;
- the second width being perpendicular to the length;
- and
- (iii) wherein the first width is narrower than the second width.

An air filter cartridge comprising:
- (a) a coiled media pack having a first flow face and an opposite second flow face;
- the media pack including:
- (i) a set of inlet flutes open at the first flow face to passage of air to be filtered therein;
- (ii) a set of outlet flutes open at the second flow face;
- (iii) the media pack being closed to flow of unfiltered air into the first flow face and then outwardly from the second flow face without filtering;
- (b) the media pack having first and second rounded ends with first and second straight sides in complete extension therebetween;
- (c) a non-circular core;
- the media pack being wound around the core;
- the core having first and second opposite core ends, and first and second opposite sides extending between the first and second core ends;
- (i) the core having a length from the first core end to the second core end;
- and
- (ii) the core having a non-constant width extending between the first and second opposite sides and perpendicular to the length.
