Abstract
Disclosed are methods of altering metabolism of phosphate in a livestock via an antibody. The methods involve the development of an antibody against FGF-23 for the purpose of reducing phosphate excretion by an animal.
Claims14
An FGF-23 epitope polypeptide consisting of an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO:46, SEQ ID NO:
- 47, and SEQ ID NO:48, wherein the FGF-23 epitope polypeptide is conjugated to a carrier protein.
A method of eliciting an immune response in a livestock comprising introducing into the livestock an FGF-23 epitope polypeptide consisting of an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO:46, SEQ ID NO:
- 47, and SEQ ID NO:48, wherein the FGF-23 epitope polypeptide is conjugated to a carrier protein.
