Abstract
An endocervical seal has a sleeve with a passageway for receiving an intrauterine interventional or diagnostic tool. The sleeve has a coaxially disposed outer balloon with a distal portion configured to inflate in a cervical os and a proximal portion configured to inflate in a cervical canal.
Claims13
A system for uterine cavity treatments, comprising:
- a seal assembly having a seal assembly length and extending along an axis and adapted to be introduced into an endocervical canal in a reduced cross-section configuration and to be immobilized in the canal in an expanded cross-section configuration, said seal assembly having a central passage;
- an axially extending probe shaft received through the central passage in the seal assembly, wherein the probe shaft carries a distal expandable-collapsible energy-delivery surface having an energy-delivery surface length;
- and
- a plurality of axial markings comprising numbers along the probe shaft for indicating the axial position of the distal expandable-collapsible energy-delivery surface relative to the seal assembly in a cervical canal, wherein a first axial marking is positionable on the shaft at a distance from a distal tip of the energy-delivery surface equal to a sum of the seal assembly length and the energy-delivery surface length and a plurality of additional axial markings are positioned proximally of the first axial marking where the numbers represent distances proximal of the first axial marking.

A method of delivering energy into the wall of a uterine cavity having an internal os at a distal end of an endocervical canal, said method comprising
- positioning a seal assembly in the endocervical canal;
- observing markings on an introducer shaft of a probe positioned through a central passage in the seal assembly shaft with reference to the internal os to insure that a distal end of the probe does not extend beyond a previous measurement of a length of the uterine cavity;
- expanding a distal expandable-collapsible energy-delivery surface carried at the distal end of the probe so that the expanded surface contacts a wall of a uterine cavity;
- and
- delivering energy through the energy-delivery surface into the wall of the uterine cavity.
