Motuporamine derivatives as antimicrobial agents and antibiotic enhancers against resistant gram-negative bacteria

A method of treating a microbe infection in a subject in need of treatment, comprising administering an effective amount of one or more compounds of the following formula:

• where n=10-13;
• X=CH;
• Y=CH2 or N;
• a=2-8;
• b=0-8;
• R1=H or alkyl or alkylamino or alkyl-N-alkylamino or alkylpolyamino;
• alkylalcohol or alkyl-O-alkylamino or polyether;
• alkylamide and R2=H or Me;
• or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof;
• or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof;
• and optionally co-administering an antibiotic.
