Wireless load control device

A load control device configured to control an amount of power delivered from an AC power source to an electrical load, the load control device comprising:

• an electrically conductive yoke substantially defining a first plane;
• an electrically conductive element substantially in a second plane parallel to the first plane, the electrically conductive element connected to the yoke by a single electrical connection;
• and
• an antenna that provides the load control device with a first wireless transmission range, wherein the antenna is substantially located in a third plane disposed between the first and second planes and substantially parallel to the first and second planes;
• wherein the antenna and the electrically conductive element cooperate to provide the load control device with a second wireless transmission range that is broader than the first wireless transmission range.

An apparatus comprising:

• a main radiating antenna;
• a metal yoke defining a first plane, the metal yoke configured to be connected to earth ground;
• and
• an electrically conductive element in a second plane parallel to the metal yoke and configured to be connected to the yoke by a single electrical connection;
• wherein the main radiating antenna is substantially located in a third plane disposed between the first and second planes and substantially parallel to the first and second planes.
