Image processing apparatus for clipping and sorting images from read image according to cards and control method therefor

A control method for an image processing apparatus, the method comprising:

• acquiring a first image and a second image;
• extracting a plurality of first rectangular images from the first image and a first position coordinate from each of the plurality of first rectangular images;
• extracting a plurality of second rectangular images from the second image and a second position coordinate from each of the plurality of second rectangular images;
• making, based on the first and second position coordinates extracted from each of the first and second rectangular images, a first decision deciding that one of the first rectangular images and one of the second rectangular images whose positions are within a predetermined distance are an obverse and reverse pair;
• and
• making, based on feature amounts extracted from the first and second rectangular images in accordance with the result of the first decision, a second decision deciding that one of the first rectangular images and one of the second rectangular images whose matching degree of the feature amounts extracted therefrom is greater than or equal to a predetermined value are an obverse and reverse pair.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a computer-executable program for executing a method of controlling an image processing apparatus,

• wherein the method comprises:
• acquiring a first image and a second image;
• extracting a plurality of first rectangular images and a first position coordinate from each of the plurality of first rectangular images;
• extracting a plurality of second rectangular images and a second position coordinate from each of the plurality of second rectangular images;
• making, based on the first and second position coordinates extracted from each of the plurality of first and second rectangular images, a first decision that one of the first rectangular images and one of the second rectangular images whose positions are within a predetermined distance are an obverse and reverse pair;
• and
• making, based on feature amounts extracted from the first and second rectangular images in accordance with the result of the first decision, a second decision that one of the first rectangular images and one of the second rectangular images whose matching degree of the feature amounts extracted therefrom is greater than or equal to a predetermined value are an obverse and reverse pair.
