Abstract
Link association analysis systems are presented. Disclosed systems are configured to analyze links created by users and to determine possible reasons underpinning why a user would create such a link. The system derives such reasons by analyzing the context within which the link was created and to which the link points, and then presents the reasons as a data object to users for feedback. The system can be made to be self-refining by collecting survey data regarding its accuracy, so that the more users interact with the system, the more accurate the system is at deriving reasons for link creation.
Claims49
A link association reasoning system, comprising:
- at least one tangible, non-transitory computer-readable memory including a link database configured to store a link object associated with a link creator, the link object including a pointer from a location on a site to linked content and a link creator identifier that identifies the link creator;
- and
- at least one processor coupled with the at least one tangible, non-transitory computer-readable memory such that link analysis software instructions, when executed, cause the at least one processor to:
- determine a context based on at least one of content on the site and the linked content;
- generate an underlying reason representing a motivation of the link creator to create a link between the location and the linked content based on one or more of the link object, the content on the site and the linked content;
- derive an association reason object from the context and the underlying reason;
- and
- take an action using the association reason object.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium having computer instructions stored thereon for link association reasoning, which, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform one or more steps comprising:
- obtaining a link object associated with a link creator, the link object including a pointer from a location on a site to linked content and a link creator identifier that identifies the link creator;
- determining a context based on at least one of content on the site and the linked content;
- generating an underlying reason representing a motivation of the link creator to create a link between the location and the linked content based on one or more of the link object, the content on the site and the linked content;
- deriving an association reason object from the context and the underlying reason;
- and
- taking an action using the association reason object.
A computer-implemented method of link association reasoning comprising:
- obtaining, by at least one processor, a link object associated with a link creator, the link object including a pointer from a location on a site to linked content and a link creator identifier that identifies the link creator;
- determining, by the at least one processor, a context based on at least one of content on the site and the linked content;
- generating, by the at least one processor, an underlying reason representing a motivation of the link creator to create a link between the location and the linked content based on one or more of the link object, the content on the site and the linked content;
- deriving, by the at least one processor, an association reason object from the context and the underlying reason;
- and
- taking an action using the association reason object.
A computing device comprising:
- a presentation interface configured to generate or obtain a link object associated with a link creator, the link object including a pointer from a location on a site to linked content and a link creator identifier that identifies the link creator;
- a communication interface;
- a tangible, non-transitory, computer-readable memory storing software instructions;
- and
- at least one processor communicatively coupled with the presentation interface and the tangible, non-transitory computer-readable memory which, upon execution of the software instructions, is configured to:
- communicate the link object to a link analysis engine via the communication interface, wherein the link analysis engine is configured to:
- determine a context based on at least one of content on the site and the linked content;
- generate an underlying reason representing a motivation of the link creator to create a link between the location and the linked content based on one or more of the link object, the content on the site and the linked content;
- derive an association reason object from the context and the underlying reason;
- and
- take an action using the association reason object.
