Abstract
A system and method for customizing communication processing within a communication platform that includes configuring a service handler, which comprises of at least setting execution code of the service handler; setting an association between the service handler and a communication event of the communication platform; detecting the occurrence of the communication event of a communication facilitated through the communication platform; invoking the service handler in response to the event, which comprises: executing the execution code in a serverless execution environment and generating a service handler response; and augmenting the communication in accordance with the service handler response.
Claims19
A method for customizing communication processing in a communication platform comprising:
- within the communication platform, configuring a service handler, which comprises of at least setting execution code of the service handler;
- setting an association between the service handler and a communication event of the communication platform;
- detecting the occurrence of the communication event of a communication facilitated through the communication platform;
- invoking the service handler in response to the event, which comprises:
- executing the execution code in a serverless execution environment and
- generating a service handler response;
- and
- augmenting the communication in accordance with the service handler response.
A system comprising:
- communication platform configured to facilitate a communication;
- a service handler configuration system that is an interface of the communication platform and that is configured to create a service handler;
- an event handler system of the communication platform that is configured to detect the occurrence of an event associated with a service handler and initiate invocation of the service handler at a serverless runtime environment;
- the runtime environment configured to execute the service handler and generate a service handler response;
- and
- wherein the communication platform is configured to augment the communication based on the service handler response.
