Systems and methods for authentication code entry in touch-sensitive screen enabled devices

A data entry device comprising:

• a housing comprising:
• a touch-sensitive screen;
• a memory;
• and
• at least one computer processor;
• and
• an entry gesture interface, wherein the entry gesture interface comprises a physical key;
• wherein:
• the touch-sensitive screen provides an input interface comprising a plurality of virtual keys;
• the touch-sensitive screen senses a first touch on the touch-sensitive screen;
• the touch-sensitive screen senses a release of the first touch and a location of the first touch at the time of release;
• the at least one computer processor determines a first corresponding virtual key based on the location of the first touch at the time of release;
• the at least one computer processor receives a first entry gesture at the entry gesture interface;
• in response to the receipt of the first entry gesture, the at least one computer processor identifies the first corresponding virtual key as a value in an authentication code;
• the touch-sensitive screen senses a second touch on the touch-sensitive screen;
• the touch-sensitive screen senses a release of the second touch and a location of the second touch at the time of release;
• the at least one computer processor determines a second corresponding virtual key based on the location of the second touch at the time of release, wherein the second corresponding virtual key comprises an enter virtual key;
• the at least one computer processor receives a second entry gesture at the entry gesture interface;
• and
• in response to the receipt of the second entry gesture, the at least one computer processor submits the authentication code.
