System and method for performing manufacturing quality control with the aid of a digital computer

A system for performing manufacturing quality control with the aid of a digital computer, comprising:

• a storage, comprising:
• a specification for manufacturing a part feature, the specification comprising a target value;
• and
• measurements for the feature on a plurality of parts manufactured in accordance with the specification using a manufacturing process;
• a processor configured to execute code, comprising:
• a definition module configured to define a plurality of zones, each associated with at least one interval of values that are above the target value, below the target value, or at the target value;
• an assignment module configured to assign each of the measurements into one of the zones based on how close that measurement is to the target value;
• a calculation module configured to calculate a score associated with the manufacturing process based on the zones into which a plurality of the measurements are assigned;
• a display module configured to display the score;
• and
• a recommendation module configured to provide a recommendation of at least one corrective action to the manufacturing process to change the score associated with the manufacturing process,
• wherein the manufacturing process is changed based on the recommendation.
