Method for processing rubber-containing waste

A method of processing of shredded rubber-containing waste, the method comprising:

• preliminary preparing of the waste by blowing it with water vapor until a waste temperature of 100° C. is reached;
• thermally decomposing the waste in a furnace;
• separating decomposition products into a vapor-gas mixture and a solid residue, and
• separating a heavy hydrocarbon fraction from the vapor-gas mixture;
• wherein
• the thermal decomposing step is carried out at 300-500° C. in residual oil in a starting phase and then in an atomized generated heavy hydrocarbon fraction and a superheated water vapor at a weight ratio of the atomized generated heavy hydrocarbon fraction to the superheated water vapor said weight ration being (0.1-0.5):1;
• wherein water of a condensate generated in cooling of the vapor-gas mixture is used to separate the heavy hydrocarbon fraction the vapor-gas mixture by atomizing the water into a vapor-gas mixture flow in an amount of 5-15% of the mass flow rate of the vapor-gas mixture;
• and
• wherein in the thermally decomposing step liquid hydrocarbons from the condensate are used as fuel while metal is extracted from the solid residue by magnetic separation and a product containing zinc oxide is separated to obtain industrial carbon.
