Abstract
A supplemental lighting element (10) for a vehicle includes a circuit board (27) including at least one illuminator thereon, a housing having an optical element (12) in register with the at least one illuminator on the circuit board (27) and a heat sink (22) positioned between the circuit board (27) and the heat sink (22).
Claims17
A lighting element for a vehicle comprising:
- a circuit board including at least one illuminator;
- a housing having an optical element in register with the at least one illuminator on the circuit board, and the housing including a peripheral wall enveloping a periphery of the circuit board, the housing having at least one inwardly-extending leg having a retainer thereon;
- a heat sink having at least one recess in alignment with the at least one inwardly-extending leg on the peripheral wall of the housing;
- and
- a thermal pad positioned between the circuit board and the heat sink;
- wherein the inwardly-extending leg extends toward another portion of the peripheral wall, different from which the inwardly-extending leg extends, and wherein the inwardly-extending leg is positioned between the circuit board and the heat sink.

- a circuit board including at least one illuminator;
- a housing having an optical element in register with the at least one illuminator on the circuit board, and the housing including a peripheral wall enveloping a periphery of the circuit board, the housing having at least one inwardly-extending leg having a retainer;
- a heat sink having at least one recess in alignment with the at least one inwardly-extending leg on the peripheral wall of the housing;
- and
- a thermal pad positioned between the circuit board and the heat sink;
- wherein the inwardly-extending leg is positioned between, spacing, and in a contacting relationship with the circuit board and the heat sink.

- a circuit board including at least one illuminator;
- a housing having an optical element in register with the at least one illuminator, and the housing including a peripheral wall enveloping the circuit board, the housing having at least one inwardly-extending leg extending from the peripheral wall toward another portion of the peripheral wall;
- a heat sink having at least one recess receiving the at least one inwardly-extending leg of the housing;
- and
- wherein the inwardly-extending leg is positioned between the circuit board and the heat sink.
