Abstract
A device for reducing pressure within a lumen includes a reservoir structured for holding a fluid therein, an injection port in fluid communication with the reservoir, a compliant body structured to expand and contract upon changes in pressure, and a conduit extending between and fluidly coupling the reservoir and the compliant body. The fluid may be a compressible or a noncompressible fluid.
Claims29
A system for reducing pulsatile arterial elastance and increasing pulsatile arterial compliance, comprising:
- a fluid reservoir having a housing, said housing defining a unitary fluid chamber within said fluid reservoir for holding a fluid therewithin;
- an injection port fluidly connected to said fluid reservoir, said injection port being separate from said fluid reservoir or mounted directly on said fluid reservoir;
- a transvascular conduit;
- and
- a compliant body that is compressible and generally elastic, defines an internal volume, and is configured to be placed within a vascular lumen of a patient,
- wherein said fluid is pressurized such that said internal volume of said compliant body changes between an expanded state and a contracted state when subjected to changing pressure within the vascular lumen, and
- the transvascular conduit fluidly connects said fluid reservoir and said compliant body.
4 more elements
A system for reducing pulsatile pressure comprising:
- a reservoir structured to be implanted subcutaneously, said reservoir for holding a fluid therewithin;
- an injection port in fluid communication with the reservoir;
- a transvascular conduit;
- and
- a compliant body structured to be implanted in a lumen of a vessel, said compliant body including at least one compliant body lumen,
- wherein said fluid is pressurized such that said compliant body changes between an expanded state and a contracted state upon changes in pressure in the vessel,
- the transvascular conduit extends between and fluidly couples the reservoir and said at least one compliant body lumen, and
- said changes to the contracted state of the compliant body results in a reduction in peak pressure in the vessel.
