Abstract
A system for performing a peritoneal dialysis therapy includes at least one dialysis fluid pump, and a logic implementer operable with the at least one dialysis fluid pump to perform a plurality of peritoneal dialysis cycles, the cycles including a fill phase, a dwell phase and a drain phase, the logic implementer configured to: (i) store a first peritoneal dialysis treatment having a total prescribed fresh dialysis fluid fill volume delivered over a number of cycles; and (ii) convert the first peritoneal dialysis treatment into a second peritoneal dialysis treatment having a different number of cycles and using the same total prescribed fresh dialysis fluid fill volume.
Claims24
A system for performing a peritoneal dialysis treatment comprising:
- at least one source of dialysis fluid;
- a fluid circuit in fluid communication with the at least one source of dialysis fluid;
- at least one dialysis fluid pump operable with the fluid circuit to pump the dialysis fluid from the at least one source to a patient for treatment;
- and
- a logic implementer including a central processing unit (“CPU”) and a pump controller operable with the CPU, the pump controller operable with the at least one dialysis fluid pump to perform a plurality of peritoneal dialysis cycles, the cycles including a fill phase, a dwell phase and a drain phase,
- the logic implementer configured to:
- (i) store a first peritoneal dialysis treatment having a total prescribed fresh dialysis fluid fill volume delivered over a number of cycles;
- (ii) convert the first peritoneal dialysis treatment into a second peritoneal dialysis treatment having a different number of cycles and using the same total prescribed fresh dialysis fluid fill volume;
- and
- (iii) cause the at least one dialysis fluid pump to operate according to the first peritoneal dialysis treatment before the conversion and operate according to the second peritoneal dialysis treatment after the conversion.
A system for performing a peritoneal dialysis treatment comprising:
- at least one source of dialysis fluid;
- a fluid circuit in fluid communication with the at least one source of dialysis fluid;
- at least one dialysis fluid pump operable with the fluid circuit to pump the dialysis fluid from the at least one source to a patient for treatment;
- and
- a logic implementer including a central processing unit (“CPU”) and a pump controller operable with the CPU, the pump controller operable with the at least one dialysis fluid pump to perform a plurality of peritoneal dialysis cycles, the cycles including a fill phase, a dwell phase and a drain phase,
- the logic implementer configured to:
- (i) store a first peritoneal dialysis treatment having a total prescribed fresh dialysis fluid fill volume delivered over a number of cycles during a total treatment duration;
- (ii) convert the first peritoneal dialysis treatment into a second peritoneal dialysis treatment having a different number of cycles and using the same total treatment duration;
- and
- (iii) cause the at least one dialysis fluid pump to operate according to the first peritoneal dialysis treatment before the conversion and operate according to the second peritoneal dialysis treatment after the conversion.
A method of performing a peritoneal dialysis treatment comprising:
- accepting, in a logic implementer of a dialysis machine, programming to perform a first peritoneal dialysis treatment having a total prescribed fresh dialysis fluid fill volume delivered over a number of cycles during a total treatment duration;
- controlling, via the logic implementer, at least one dialysis fluid pump of the dialysis machine to perform the first peritoneal dialysis treatment;
- converting, via the logic implementer of the dialysis machine, the first peritoneal dialysis treatment into a second peritoneal dialysis treatment having a different number of cycles and using at least one of:
- (i) the same total prescribed fresh dialysis fluid fill volume as the first peritoneal dialysis treatment;
- or (ii) the same total treatment duration as the first peritoneal dialysis treatment;
- and
- controlling, via the logic implementer, the at least one dialysis fluid pump of the dialysis machine to perform the first peritoneal dialysis treatment before the conversion and perform the second peritoneal dialysis treatment for at least one subsequent peritoneal dialysis cycle after the conversion.
