A method for treating the symptoms of myotonia in a subject having dystrophic or non-dystrophic myotonia comprising orally administering a therapeutically effective amount of cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) to the subject in a formulation, wherein the formulation contains a weight ratio of CBD to THC of about 1:1 to about 10:1, respectively, in pharmaceutically-acceptable excipients.
