Abstract
Embodiments include a system for determining cardiovascular information for a patient. The system may include at least one computer system configured to receive patient-specific data regarding a geometry of the patient's heart, and create a three-dimensional model representing at least a portion of the patient's heart based on the patient-specific data. The at least one computer system may be further configured to create a physics-based model relating to a blood flow characteristic of the patient's heart and determine a fractional flow reserve within the patient's heart based on the three-dimensional model and the physics-based model.
Claims26
A method for estimating a hemodynamic index, comprising:
- acquiring one or more vascular images depicting at least a narrowing of a patient's blood vessel;
- acquiring physiological information of the patient;
- generating, based on the one or more acquired vascular images and the physiological information of the patient, a combined model of the narrowing of the patient's blood vessel;
- acquiring, via simulating blood flow through the combined model of the narrowing of the patient's blood vessel, a first value of blood flow information comprising a value of blood velocity, blood pressure, or blood flow rate;
- computing, via simulating the blood flow through the combined model of the narrowing of the patient's blood vessel, a second value of blood flow information;
- and
- estimating a hemodynamic index indicative of vascular function at the narrowing of the patient's blood vessel based at least on the acquired first value of blood flow information, the computed second value of blood flow information, and the physiological information of the patient.
One or more non-transitory computer-readable media encoding one or more routines, wherein the one or more routines cause acts to be performed comprising:
- acquiring one or more vascular images depicting at least a narrowing of a patient's blood vessel;
- acquiring physiological information of the patient;
- generating, based on the one or more acquired vascular images and the physiological information of the patient, a combined model of the narrowing of the patient's blood vessel;
- acquiring, via simulating blood flow through the combined model of the narrowing of the patient's blood vessel, a first value of blood flow information, the blood flow information comprising a value of blood velocity, blood pressure, or blood flow rate;
- computing, via simulating the blood flow through the combined model of the narrowing of the patient's blood vessel, a second value of blood flow information;
- and
- estimating a hemodynamic index indicative of vascular function at the narrowing of the patient's blood vessel based at least on the acquired first value of blood flow information, the computed second value of blood flow information, and the physiological information of the patient.
A processor-based computer system, comprising:
- a digital computer memory storage device encoding one or more routines for estimating a hemodynamic index;
- and
- a computer processor configured to execute the one or more routines, wherein the routines, when executed cause the computer system to perform steps comprising:
- acquiring, by the computer processor, one or more vascular images depicting at least narrowing of a patient's a blood vessel;
- acquiring physiological information of the patient;
- generating, based on the one or more acquired vascular images and the physiological information of the patient, a combined model of the narrowing of the patient's blood vessel;
- acquiring, by the computer processor and via simulating blood flow through the combined model of the narrowing of the patient's blood vessel, a first value of blood flow information comprising a value of blood velocity, blood pressure, or blood flow rate;
- computing, via simulating the blood flow through the combined model of the narrowing of the patient's blood vessel, a second value of blood flow information;
- and
- estimating a hemodynamic index indicative of vascular function at the narrowing of the patient's blood vessel based at least on the acquired first value of blood flow information, the computed second value of blood flow information, and the physiological information of the patient.
