Abstract
A method for treating cancer can include administering a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of formula (Ia): or pharmaceutically acceptable salts or solvates thereof, wherein R1a, R1b, R1c, R1d, R2, and R3 are as defined, and A----B is selected from CH═CH, CH═CH(CH2)pCH2, or CH2—CH2(CH2)pCH2, and where p is 1 or 2.

A method for treating cancer, comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of a compound of formula (Ia):
- or pharmaceutically acceptable salts or solvates thereof, wherein:
- R1a is selected from, CH2CH═C(CH3)2, OCH2CH═C(CH3)2, CH═CHCH(CH3)2, CH═CHC(CH3)═CH2, OCH═CHCH(CH3)2, or OCH═CHC(CH3)═CH2;
- R1b is selected from, H, OH, OR4, CH2CH═C(CH3)2, OCH2CH═C(CH3)2, CH═CHCH(CH3)2, CH═CHC(CH3)═CH2, OCH═CHCH(CH3)2, or OCH═CHC(CH3)═CH2;
- R1c is selected from H, OH, OR4a, CH2CH═C(CH3)2, OCH2CH═C(CH3)2, CH═CHCH(CH3)2, CH═CHC(CH3)═CH2, OCH═CHCH(CH3)2, or OCH═CHC(CH3)═CH2;
- R1d is selected from H, OH, OR4, CH2CH═C(CH3)2, OCH2CH═C(CH3)2, CH═CHCH(CH3)2, CH═CHC(CH3)═CH2, OCH═CHCH(CH3)2, or OCH═CHC(CH3)═CH2;
- wherein at least one of R1b-1d is OH and at least one of R1a-1d is CH2CH═C(CH3)2, OCH2CH═C(CH3)2, CH═CHCH(CH3)2, CH═CHC(CH3)═CH2, OCH═CHCH(CH3)2, or OCH═CHC(CH3)═CH2;
- R2 is selected from OH, OR4a, OCH2CH═C(CH3)2, CH═CHC(CH3)═CH2, OCH═CHCH(CH3)2, or OCH═CHC(CH3)═CH2;
- R3 is selected from OH, OR4, OCH2CH═C(CH3)2, CH═CHC(CH3)═CH2, OCH═CHCH(CH3)2, or OCH═CHC(CH3)═CH2;
- R4 is selected from, methyl, ethyl, propyl, isopropyl, butyl, isobutyl, t-butyl or benzyl;
- R4a is selected from, ethyl, propyl, isopropyl, butyl, isobutyl, t-butyl or benzyl;
- and
- A----B is selected from CH═CH, CH═CH(CH2)pCH2, or CH2—CH2(CH2)pCH2, where p is an integer selected from the group consisting of 1 and 2.
