Device for the destruction of biohazardous waste

A method for the destruction of biohazardous medical waste comprising the steps of:

• providing a waste material, wherein the waste material is inserted into a removable basket;
• inserting the removable basket within a crucible socket of a crucible;
• inserting the crucible within an internal cavity of a waste disposal chamber;
• coupling a lid of the disposal chamber to a disposal body sealing the crucible within the disposal chamber;
• operating a vacuum pump to exhaust an atmosphere out of the disposal chamber creating a vacuum;
• heating the crucible to a predetermined temperature for a predetermined time as set on a control panel, whereby the waste material is atomized and ionized forming a waste gas;
• drawing the waste gas through a catalytic converter and a plasma chamber, whereby when the waste gas is drawn through the plasma chamber the waste gas passes over an accelerated jet of hot thermal plasma;
• drawing the waste gas via the vacuum through a plasma jet;
• condensing the waste gas when the waste gas is transitioned through a discharge duct, such that the waste gas condenses into a harmless gas.

A device for the destruction of biohazardous medical waste comprising:

• a crucible including a crucible body forming a crucible socket configured to receive a predetermined amount of waste, wherein an induction coil is in thermodynamic communication with an outside of the crucible body, such that the induction coil heats the waste through induction heating of the crucible, thereby atomizing and ionizing the waste disposed within the crucible into a waste gas;
• a waste disposal chamber comprising a disposal body, a removable lid, and a coupling structure for coupling the lid to the disposal body, the disposal body:
• defining an internal cavity configured to receive the crucible;
• and
• including a thru-hole in communication with the internal cavity;
• a first duct having a first end and a second opposite end, wherein the first end is disposed through the thru-hole forming an airtight seal and the second end is coupled to a plasma chamber, such that the waste gas flows from the catalytic converter to the plasma chamber;
• the plasma chamber comprising:
• a plasma head disposed within the plasma chamber, wherein the plasma head provides an accelerated jet of hot thermal plasma;
• and
• a discharge duct extending away from the plasma head,
• wherein when the waste gas flows from the second duct into the plasma chamber it passes over the accelerated jet of hot thermal plasma, such that dioxins within the waste gas are incinerated and having the waste gas flow through the discharge duct and into an environment surrounding the device;
• and
• a second duct having a first end and a second opposite end, wherein the first end is connected to the plasma chamber and the second end is connected to a pressure altering pump.
