Abstract
The invention provides compositions comprising one or more isolated LDH-deficient mutans streptococcus strains and one or more isolated S. oralis strains and/or one or more isolated S. uberis strains. Compositions of the invention are useful to maintain oral health, by for example treating and/or preventing one or more symptoms of dental caries, periodontitis and/or other oral cavity diseases or wounds.
Claims11
A food formulation comprising:
- a bacterial formulation comprising one or more of a biologically pure mutans streptococci strains selected from the group consisting of Streptococcus rattus, Streptococcus cricetus, Streptococcus mutans, Streptococcus sobrinus, Streptococcus downeii, Streptococcus macacae, and Streptococcus ferus;
- wherein said mutans streptococcus strains are genetically modified strains that are lactate dehydrogenase-deficient, one or more biologically pure Streptococcus oralis strains, and one or more biologically pure Streptococcus uberis strains;
- and
- a carrier comprising a nutritional agent.
