Pigment powders

A pigment powder consisting of coated BiOCl flakes, which flakes are selected from the group consisting of

• a) BiOCl flakes having a coating consisting of yellow iron oxide Fe2O3*xH2O, and optionally a colorant, a surfactant, nano-particles of a metal or metal oxide or metal salt, or SiO2,
• b) BiOCl flakes having a coating consisting of
• SiO2, and
• optionally a colorant, a surfactant or nano-particles of a metal or metal oxide or metal salt,
• wherein the coated BiOCl flakes consist of 90-95% by weight of BiOCl flakes and 5-10% by weight of the coating, where the % by weight are based on the total weight of the coated BiOCl flakes,
• c) BiOCl flakes having a coating consisting of
• a colorant,
• SiO2, and
• optionally yellow iron oxide Fe2O3*xH2O, a surfactant, or nano-particles of a metal or metal oxide or metal salt,
• and
• d) BiOCl flakes having a coating consisting of
• Fe3O4, and
• optionally SiO2,
• wherein the coated BiOCl flakes consist of 75-95% by weight of BiOCl flakes, 5-20% by weight of Fe3O4, and 0-5% by weight of SiO2, where the % by weight are based on the total weight of the coated BiOCl flakes;
• and
• wherein, in a), b), c) and d),
• the BiOCl flakes without counting the coating have a thickness of <100 nm, the coatings are directly on the BiOCl flakes, and the coated BiOCl flakes optionally contain an organic after coating.
