Abstract
A method of making a coated article includes forming a first coating over a first surface of a substrate; and forming a second coating over a second surface of the substrate. The second coating includes a first conductive layer including tin oxide and at least one material selected from the group consisting of tungsten, molybdenum, and niobium.
Claims22
A method of making a coated article, comprising:
- providing a molten glass;
- flowing the molten glass out of a receiver to form a glass ribbon having a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface;
- forming a first coating over the first surface of the glass ribbon;
- and
- forming a second coating over the second surface of the glass ribbon while the glass ribbon has a temperature in a range of 500° C. to 900° C.,
- wherein the second coating comprises:
- an underlayer located over the second surface;
- a first conductive layer over the underlayer;
- an overlayer over the first conductive layer;
- a semiconductor layer over the overlayer;
- and
- a second conductive layer over the semiconductor layer, and
- wherein the first conductive layer comprises a first layer comprising tin oxide and tungsten and a second layer comprising tin oxide and fluorine.

A method of making a solar cell, comprising:
- flowing molten glass out of a receiver to form a glass ribbon;
- forming a first coating over a first surface of a glass ribbon;
- and
- forming a second coating over a second surface of the glass ribbon while the glass ribbon has a temperature in a range of 500° C. to 900° C.,
- wherein the second coating comprises:
- an underlayer located over the second surface, wherein the underlayer comprises a bottom optical layer comprising an oxide of tin, zinc, silicon, aluminum, titanium, and/or mixtures thereof;
- a first conductive layer over the underlayer, wherein the first conductive layer comprises a first layer comprising tin oxide and tungsten and a second layer comprising tin oxide and fluorine;
- an overlayer over the first conductive layer, wherein the overlayer comprises a buffer layer comprising tin oxide and at least one of zinc, indium, gallium, magnesium, and nitrogen;
- a semiconductor layer over the overlayer;
- and
- a second conductive layer over the semiconductor layer, wherein the second conductive layer comprises a metallic layer.
