Abstract
A measurement device includes a sensor configured to detect triggering of the device. The measurement device further includes a transmitter configured to transmit an interrogation signal in response to the triggering of the device, and a receiver configured to detect a received signal that captures one or more reflections of the interrogation signal. A processor of the measurement device is configured to select a selected reflection among a plurality of identified potential reflections captured in the received signal, and provide an identifier corresponding to the selected reflection that is associated with an amount of content included in a container engaged by the content measurement device.
Claims14
A measurement device, comprising:
- a sensor configured to detect triggering of the device;
- a transmitter configured to transmit an interrogation signal in response to the triggering of the device;
- a receiver configured to detect a received signal that captures one or more reflections of the interrogation signal;
- and
- a processor configured to:
- identify a plurality of identified potential reflections in the received signal, comprising to:
- for an amplitude value of the received signal, determine whether the amplitude value satisfied a reflection detection threshold;
- and
- in response to a determination that the amplitude value satisfies the reflection detection threshold, identify the amplitude value as corresponding to a potential reflection;
- compare the plurality of identified potential reflections with an expectation to select a selected reflection among the plurality of identified potential reflections captured in the received signal, comprising to:
- determine a fill level of a container associated with a potential reflection;
- compare the determined fill level with a reference fill level, the reference fill level corresponding to a previously detected fill level;
- and
- in response to a determination that the determined fill level is less than the reference fill level:
- replace the reference fill level with the determined fill level;
- and
- select the potential reflection as the selected reflection;
- and
- provide an identifier corresponding to the selected reflection that is associated with an amount of content included in the container engaged by the content measurement device.
A method, comprising:
- detecting a measurement trigger;
- transmitting an interrogation signal in response to the measurement trigger;
- detecting a received signal that captures one or more reflections of the interrogation signal;
- identifying a plurality of identified potential reflections in the received signal, comprising:
- for an amplitude value of the received signal, determining whether the amplitude value satisfied a reflection detection threshold;
- and
- in response to a determination that the amplitude value satisfies the reflection detection threshold, identifying the amplitude value as corresponding to a potential reflection;
- comparing the plurality of identified potential reflections with an expectation to select a selected reflection among the plurality of identified potential reflections captured in the received signal, comprising:
- determining a fill level of a container associated with a potential reflection;
- comparing the determined fill level with a reference fill level, the reference fill level corresponding to a previously detected fill level;
- and
- in response to a determination that the determined fill level is less than the reference fill level:
- replacing the reference fill level with the determined fill level;
- and
- selecting the potential reflection as the selected reflection;
- and
- providing an identifier corresponding to the selected reflection that is associated with an amount of content included in the container.
