Wireless device location services

A method for use in a user equipment, the method comprising:

• receiving, by the user equipment, a radio resource control (RRC) signal including uplink (UL) sounding reference signal (SRS) configuration information;
• receiving, by the user equipment, a semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) message to initiate transmission of UL SRSs;
• and
• transmitting, by the user equipment, UL SRSs in a time and frequency pattern based on the UL SRS configuration information and the SPS message.

An evolved Node B (eNB) comprising:

• a transmitter and a processor operable to transmit a radio resource control (RRC) signal including uplink (UL) sounding reference signal (SRS) configuration information to at least one user equipment (UE);
• and
• the transmitter and the processor further operable to transmit a semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) message to the at least one UE to initiate transmission of UL SRSs by the at least one UE;
• and
• the processor and a receiver operable to receive UL SRSs in a time and frequency pattern based on the UL SRS configuration information and the SPS message from the at least one UE.

A method for use in an evolved Node B (eNB), the method comprising:

• transmitting a radio resource control (RRC) signal including uplink (UL) sounding reference signal (SRS) configuration information to at least one user equipment (UE);
• transmitting a semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) message to the at least one UE to initiate transmission of UL SRSs by the at least one UE;
• and
• receiving UL SRSs in a time and frequency pattern based on the UL SRS configuration information and the SPS message from the at least one UE.
