Abstract
A method improves performance of a computer that provides binaural sound to a listener. A memory stores coordinate locations that follow a path of how the head of the listener moves. This path is retrieved in anticipation of subsequent head movements of the listener to improve computer performance of executing binaural sound.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- processing, with a processor, sound to generate binaural sound that plays to a listener with a current head orientation;
- determining a predicted head orientation that the listener will have when a head of the listener moves from the current head orientation;
- and
- improving performance of the processing by prefetching and caching head-related transfer functions (HRTFs) based on the predicted head orientation of the listener and processing the sound with the HRTFs when the head of the listener moves to the predicted head orientation.
1 more element
An electronic device, comprising:
- a cache memory;
- and
- a processor that processes sound into binaural sound that plays to a listener with a current head orientation, wherein performance of the processor improves by prefetching and caching head-related transfer functions (HRTFs) into the cache memory based on a predicted head orientation that the listener will have when a head of the listener moves from the current head orientation to the predicted head orientation.
A method comprising:
- improving performance of processing sound into binaural sound provided to a listener by prefetching and caching head-related transfer functions (HRTFs) corresponding to a predicted head orientation that the listener will have when a head of the listener moves from a current head orientation to the predicted head orientation.
