Abstract
A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a gateway adapted to decode encoded media streams to obtain decoded media streams. The decoded media streams are provided to media devices via wireless transmissions, wherein each media device includes a wireless high definition multimedia interface to receive via the wireless transmissions a respective decoded media stream. The respective decoded audio/video stream is displayed without accessing a media processor at a respective media device of the plurality of media devices. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Claims20
A gateway, comprising:
- a processing system including a processor;
- and
- a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processing system, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising:
- decoding a plurality of encoded media streams to obtain a plurality of decoded media streams;
- and
- providing the plurality of decoded media streams to a plurality of media devices via wireless transmissions,
- each media device of the plurality of media devices comprising a wireless high definition multimedia interface to receive via the wireless transmissions, a respective decoded media stream of the plurality of decoded media streams, and
- the respective decoded media stream being displayed without accessing a media processor at a respective media device of the plurality of media devices.
A non-transitory, machine-readable storage medium, comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processing system including a processor of a gateway, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising:
- decoding a plurality of encoded media streams to obtain a first set of decoded media streams and a second set of decoded media streams;
- wirelessly transmitting, by a plurality of wireless high definition multimedia interfaces of the gateway, the first set of the decoded media streams to a first media device;
- and
- wirelessly transmitting, by the plurality of wireless high definition multimedia interfaces of the gateway, the second set of the decoded media streams to a second media device,
- a first decoded media stream of the first set of the decoded media streams being displayed without accessing a first media processor at the first media device, and a second decoded media stream of the second set of the decoded media streams is displayed without accessing a second media processor at the second media device.
A method, comprising:
- decoding, by a gateway processing system including a processor, a plurality of encoded media streams to obtain a plurality of decoded media streams, wherein the plurality of decoded media streams include a first set of signals and a second set of signals, wherein the first set of signals comprise a first decoded video signal including first media content, and wherein the second set of signals comprise a second decoded, losslessly compressed video signal including second media content;
- providing, by the gateway processing system, the first set of signals to a first high definition television set, wherein the first high definition television set receives the first set of signals via a first wireless high definition multimedia interface;
- and
- providing, by the gateway processing system, the second set of signals to a second high definition television set, wherein the second high definition television set receives the second set of signals via a second wireless high definition multimedia interface,
- the first high definition television set receiving the first set of signals directly though the first wireless high definition multimedia interface without additional processing of the first set of signals to display content of the first set of signals.
