Abstract
In one embodiment, a method includes receiving a search query from a client system; modifying the search query by removing a first search term associated with a first object type from the search query; retrieving search results responsive to the modified search query from a first data store storing objects of the first object type; and sending one or more of the search results to the client system.
Claims33
A method comprising, by one or more processors of one or more computing devices:
- receiving, by one or more of the processors from a client system, a search query comprising a plurality of search terms;
- determining, by one or more of the processors, that a first search term in the search query is a descriptor of a first object type of a plurality of object types;
- identifying, by one or more of the processors, a first data store of a plurality of data stores that corresponds to the first search term, wherein each data store is coupled with a respective index server of a plurality of index servers, and wherein the first data store only stores objects of the first object type;
- modifying, by one or more of the processors, the search query by removing the first search term from the search query based on the determination that the first search term is a descriptor of the first object type;
- retrieving, by one or more of the processors, first search results responsive to the modified search query from the first data store using a first index server coupled with the first data store, wherein the first index server hosts search indexes associated with the objects of the first object type that are stored in the first data store, wherein the retrieved search results match the modified search query, and wherein the retrieved search results do not match the first search term;
- and
- sending, by one or more of the processors to the client system in response to the search query, one or more of the first search results.
One or more computer-readable non-transitory storage media embodying software that is operable when executed to:
- receive, by one or more computing devices from a client system, a search query comprising a plurality of search terms;
- determine, by one or more computing devices, that a first search term in the search query is a descriptor of a first object type of a plurality of object types;
- identify, by one or more of the processors, a first data store of a plurality of data stores that corresponds to the first search term, wherein each data store is coupled with a respective index server of a plurality of index servers, and wherein the first data store only stores objects of the first object type;
- modify, by one or more computing devices, the search query by removing the first search term from the search query based on the determination that the first search term is a descriptor of the first object type;
- retrieve, by one or more of the processors, first search results responsive to the modified search query from the first data store using a first index server coupled with the first data store, wherein the first index server hosts search indexes associated with the objects of the first object type that are stored in the first data store, wherein the retrieved search results match the modified search query, and wherein the retrieved search results do not match the first search term;
- and
- send, by one or more computing devices to the client system in response to the search query, one or more of the search results.
A system comprising:
- one or more processors;
- and one or more processors;
- and a non-transitory memory coupled to the processors comprising instructions executable by the processors, the processors operable when executing the instructions to:
- receive, by one or more computing devices from a client system, a search query comprising a plurality of search terms;
- determine, by one or more computing devices, that a first search term in the search query is a descriptor of a first object type of a plurality of object types;
- identify, by one or more of the processors, a first data store of a plurality of data stores that corresponds to the first search term, wherein each data store is coupled with a respective index server of a plurality of index servers, and wherein the first data store only stores objects of the first object type;
- modify, by one or more computing devices, the search query by removing the first search term from the search query based on the determination that the first search term is a descriptor of the first object type;
- retrieve, by one or more of the processors, first search results responsive to the modified search query from the first data store using a first index server coupled with the first data store, wherein the first index server hosts search indexes associated with the objects of the first object type that are stored in the first data store, wherein the retrieved search results match the modified search query, and wherein the retrieved search results do not match the first search term;
- and
- send, by one or more computing devices to the client system in response to the search query, one or more of the search results.
