Abstract
An electric field sensor including a dielectric layer having a plane surface, at least one transceiver antenna disposed on one side of the dielectric layer, the at least one transceiver antenna configured to emit a wave above the plane surface of the dielectric layer and detect an event adjacent the plane surface, an integrated circuit coupled to the at least one transceiver antenna.

An electric field sensor, comprising:
- a dielectric layer having a plane surface;
- at least one transceiver antenna disposed on one side of the dielectric layer, the at least one transceiver antenna configured to emit a wave above the plane surface of the dielectric layer and detect an event adjacent the plane surface;
- and
- an integrated circuit coupled to the at least one transceiver antenna.

A method, comprising:
- arranging a plurality of transceiver antennas around a dielectric substrate;
- emitting at least one wave from each of the plurality of transceiver antennas;
- detecting a normal condition of the at least one wave;
- and
- detecting a disturbed condition of the at least one wave after the at least one wave has encountered an event adjacent the dielectric substrate.
