Abstract
An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes a connector detachable from part of an electronic device including a display, and a cover connected to the connector, wherein the cover is capable of covering at least part of the display of the electronic device, and wherein the cover includes a window configured to expose the at least part of the display when the cover covers at least part of the display.
Claims18
A portable communication device comprising:
- a touch screen;
- a sensor adapted to determine whether a cover is opened or closed with respect to the touch screen;
- and
- a processor adapted to:
- determine, using the sensor, whether the cover is opened or closed with respect to the touch screen,
- based on a determination that the cover is opened with respect to the touch screen, recognize a first touch input directly contacted on the touch screen based on a first touch sensitivity,
- based on a determination that the cover is closed with respect to the touch screen, recognize a second touch input contacted on a portion of the cover that visually exposes a portion of the touch screen based on a second touch sensitivity different from the first touch sensitivity,
- when the cover is closed with respect to the touch screen, present an indication of a state of the portable communication device via the portion of the cover, and
- based on a determination that the second touch input contacted on the portion of the cover that corresponds to the indication, perform a function or present additional information corresponding the state of the portable communication device.
An electronic device comprising:
- a touch screen;
- a sensor adapted to determine whether a cover is opened or closed with respect to the touch screen;
- communication circuitry;
- and
- a processor,
- wherein the processor is adapted to:
- determine, using the sensor, whether the cover is opened or closed with respect to the touch screen,
- based at least in part on the determination that the cover is opened with respect to the touch screen, recognize a first touch input directly contacted on the touch screen based on a first touch sensitivity,
- based at least in part on the determination that the cover is closed with respect to the touch screen, recognize a second touch input contacted on a portion of the touch screen corresponding to a translucent material of the cover, based on a second touch sensitivity different from the first touch sensitivity,
- when the cover is closed with respect to the touch screen, present an indication of a state of the electronic device via a portion of the cover, and
- based on a determination that the second touch input contacted on the portion of the cover that corresponds to the indication, perform a function or present additional information corresponding the state of the electronic device.
A non-transitory computer-readable storage device storing instructions that, when executed by an electronic device, cause the electronic device to perform operations comprising:
- determining, using a sensor, whether a cover is opened or closed with respect to a touch screen;
- based on a determination that the cover is opened with respect to the touch screen, recognizing a first touch input directly contacted on the touch screen based on a first touch sensitivity;
- based on a determination that the cover is closed with respect to the touch screen, recognizing a second touch input contacted on a portion of the cover via which a portion of the touch screen is visually exposed, based on a second touch sensitivity different from the first touch sensitivity;
- when the cover is closed with respect to the touch screen, presenting an indication of a state of the electronic device via the portion of the cover;
- and
- based on a determination that the second touch input contacted on the portion of the cover that corresponds to the indication, performing a function or present additional information corresponding the state of the electronic device.
