Method of using a Mangifera indica composition in the treatment of obesity

A method of reducing body fat in a subject in need thereof, comprising administering an effective amount of a composition to said subject, wherein said composition comprises:

• about 22% mangiferin,
• about 4% catechin,
• about 3% epicatechin
• about 0.4% quercetin dihydrate,
• 4.5+/−0.42% gallic acid;
• 0.93+/−0.23% 3,4 dihydroxy benzoic acid;
• 1.2+/−0.34% methyl gallate;
• 2.31+/−0.73% propyl gallate;
• 0.48+/−0.08% pyrogallol;
• 1.43+/−0.07% parahydroxy benzoic acid;
• 0.33+1-0.06% vanillic acid;
• 0.82+1-0.13% syringic acid;
• 0.12+1-0.02% ferulic acid;
• 0.76+1-0.14% ethyl gallate;
• and
• 0.16+1-0.05% ellagic acid;
• wherein said composition has a total flavonoid content of about 29% and a total polyphenol content of about 19%.
