Abstract
Disclosed herein is the use of N-(4-iodobenzoylamino)-5-ethyl-1,2,3,6-tetra-hydropyridine as a treatment for cancer.

A compound having the formula:
A compound that is identified by the following spectroscopic measurements:
- a)1H NMR spectrum having the following chemical shifts at 300 MHz in CDCl3 (δ):
- 1.02 (t, J=7.5 Hz, CH2CH3, 3H), 1.93-1.98 (q, J=6.9, 7.8 Hz, CH2CH3, 2H), 3.07 (t, J=5.8 Hz, C5—H, 2H), 3.41 (s, C2, C6—H, 2H), 5.50 (s, 1H, C4—H), 7.01 (s, 1H, NH), 7.46 (d, J=8.3 Hz, C2′, C6′—H, 2H), 7.78 (d, J=8.4 Hz, C3′, C5′—H, 2H);
- and
- b)13C NMR spectrum having the following chemical shifts at 150 MHz in CDCl3 (δ):
- 11.73 (CH2CH3), 23.71 (C5), 27.33 (CH2CH3), 52.30 (C6), 56.38 (C2), 100.0 (C4′), 117.25 (C4), 129.18 (C2′, C6′), 134.68 (C3), 137.98 (C3′, C5′), 165.24 (C═O).

A method for treating cancer comprising administering to a subject in need thereof an effective amount of N-(4-iodobenzoylamino)-3-ethyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine having the formula:
A method for treating cancer comprising administering to a subject in need thereof a composition, comprising:
- a) an effective amount of N-(4-iodobenzoylamino)-3-ethyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine having the formula:
- and
- b) one or more anti-cancer agents chosen from taxol, gemcitabine, erlotinib, doxil, irinortecan, bevacizumab, flavopiridol, and mixtures thereof.
A composition for treating cancer, comprising:
- a) from about 0.1 μM to about 20 μM of N-(4-iodobenzoyl-amino)-3-ethyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine;
- and
- b) one or more pharmaceutically acceptable ingredients or agents.
