Abstract
A smart musical instrument system may include a musical instrument, a first sensor, a second sensor, a processor device, and a reminder device. The first sensor may be configured to obtain first performance data reflecting operations of the musical instrument. The may be second sensor configured to receive second performance data associated with hand posture of a user of the smart instrument system. The processor device may be in communication with the first sensor and the second sensor, and may be configured to generate feedback based on at least one of the first performance data or the second performance data. The reminder device may be configured to deliver the feedback to the user.

A smart musical instrument system comprising:
- a first sensor configured to obtain first performance data reflecting operations of a musical instrument, wherein the first sensor includes at least one of an accelerometer, a force sensing resistor, sonar, an infrared sensor, an inertia measurement unit sensor, an attitude/heading reference system sensor, and a temperature sensor;
- a second sensor configured to receive second performance data associated with hand posture of a user of the smart instrument system;
- a processor device in communication with the first sensor and the second sensor, configured to generate feedback based on at least one of the first performance data or the second performance data;
- a controller configured to calibrate the feedback content based on timing information associated with the first performance data and timing information associated with the second performance data;
- and
- a reminder device configured to deliver the calibrated feedback to the user.
A method for operating a smart musical instrument system comprising:
- obtaining, by a first sensor connected to a musical instrument, first performance data reflecting operations of the musical instrument, wherein the first sensor includes at least one of an accelerometer, a force sensing resistor, sonar, an infrared sensor, an inertia measurement unit sensor, an attitude/heading reference system sensor, and a temperature sensor;
- obtaining, by a second sensor connected to a user, second performance data associated with hand posture of the user;
- generating feedback by a processor device in communication with the first sensor and the second sensor based on at least one of the first performance data or the second performance data;
- calibrating the feedback content based on timing information associated with the first performance data and timing information associated with the second performance data;
- and
- delivering the calibrated feedback to user by a reminder device.
