Abstract
A system and method for a weapon accessory mount is disclosed. The weapon accessory mount is configured to attach a weapon accessory to a rail of a weapon configured to fire a projectile in a projectile path. A flexure is configured to receive the weapon accessory. The flexure includes a first end attached to the rail at a first pivot portion, and a second end opposite the first end attached to the rail at a second portion. The first pivot portion is configured to convert at least a portion of energy of a shock recoil from the weapon from translational energy to rotational energy, the second pivot portion has a similar functionality to the first pivot portion.
Claims12
A weapon accessory mount configured to attach a weapon accessory comprising a weapon accessory body to a rail of a weapon configured to fire a projectile in a projectile path direction comprising:
- a weapon bracket comprising a flexure further comprising a first end and a second end, the flexure configured to receive the weapon accessory body comprising a first end attached to the rail at a weapon bracket first pivot portion, and a second end opposite the first end attached to the rail at a second portion, the weapon accessory body first end attached to the first pivot portion,
- wherein the first pivot portion further comprises a pivot pin inserted through a first aperture in the weapon bracket first end and inserted through a second aperture in the weapon accessory body first end, and the weapon bracket first pivot is configured to convert at least a portion of energy of a shock recoil from translational energy to rotational energy.
A weapon accessory mount configured to attach a weapon accessory to a weapon configured to fire a projectile in a projectile path direction comprising:
- a flexure configured to receive the weapon accessory comprising a first end attached to the weapon at a first pivoted portion, and a second end opposite the first end attached to the weapon at a second portion, wherein the first pivoted portion is configured to convert at least a portion of energy of a shock recoil from translational energy to rotational energy,
- wherein the flexure further comprises a weapon bracket comprising a first end and a second end, the weapon accessory body first end attached to the first pivot portion, and the flexure is configured to receive the weapon accessory body,
- wherein the first portion comprises a pivot pin inserted through a first aperture in the weapon accessory body first end and a second aperture in the weapon bracket first end.
