Abstract
A surgical system includes a surgical instrument, an end effector, a control circuit, and a sensor configured to transmit a sensor signal indicative of a closure parameter of the end effector. The control circuit is configured to adjust a closure rate of change parameter and the closure threshold parameter based on perioperative information received from one or more data sources and a sensor signal received from the sensor.
Claims23
A surgical system comprising:
- a surgical instrument, wherein the surgical instrument comprises:
- an end effector comprising:
- a first jaw;
- and
- a second jaw, wherein the first jaw is configured to move relative to the second jaw;
- a motor configured to move the first jaw relative to the second jaw according to a closure rate of change parameter and a closure threshold parameter;
- and
- a sensor configured to transmit a sensor signal indicative of a closure parameter of the end effector;
- and
- a control circuit communicatively coupled to the sensor, wherein the control circuit is configured to:
- receive perioperative information, wherein the perioperative information comprises one or more of a perioperative disease, a perioperative treatment, and a type of a surgical procedure;
- receive the sensor signal from the sensor;
- and
- determine an adjustment to the closure rate of change parameter and the closure threshold parameter based on the perioperative information and the sensor signal.
A surgical system comprising:
- a surgical hub configured to receive perioperative information transmitted from a remote database of a cloud computing system, wherein the surgical hub is communicatively coupled to the cloud computing system;
- and
- a surgical instrument communicatively coupled to the surgical hub, wherein the surgical instrument comprises:
- an end effector comprising:
- a first jaw;
- and
- a second jaw, wherein the first jaw is configured to move relative to the second jaw;
- a motor configured to move the first jaw relative to the second jaw according to a closure rate of change parameter and a closure threshold parameter of a closure control program received from the surgical hub;
- and
- a sensor configured to transmit a sensor signal indicative of a closure parameter of the end effector;
- and
- wherein the surgical hub is further configured to:
- receive the sensor signal from the sensor;
- and
- determine an adjustment to the closure rate of change parameter and the closure threshold parameter based on the perioperative information and the sensor signal.
A surgical instrument comprising:
- an end effector comprising:
- a first jaw;
- and
- a second jaw, wherein the first jaw is configured to move relative to the second jaw;
- a motor configured to move the first jaw relative to the second jaw according to a closure rate of change parameter and a closure threshold parameter of a first closure control program received from a surgical hub;
- a sensor configured to transmit a sensor signal indicative of a closure parameter of the end effector;
- and
- a control circuit communicatively coupled to the sensor and the motor, wherein the control circuit is configured to:
- receive the sensor signal from the sensor;
- and
- determine an adjustment to the closure rate of change parameter and the closure threshold parameter based on perioperative information and the sensor signal.
A surgical system, comprising:
- a surgical instrument, comprising:
- an end effector comprising:
- a first jaw;
- and
- a second jaw, wherein the first jaw is configured to move relative to the second jaw;
- a motor configured to move the first jaw relative to the second jaw according to a first closure control program;
- and
- a sensor configured to sense a closure parameter of the end effector;
- and
- a control circuit communicatively coupled to the sensor, wherein the control circuit is configured to:
- receive perioperative information;
- interrogate the sensor to determine the closure parameter of the end effector;
- and
- select a second closure control program, different than the first closure control program, based on the perioperative information and the closure parameter of the end effector.
A surgical system, comprising:
- a surgical hub configured to receive perioperative information transmitted from a remote database of a cloud computing system, wherein the surgical hub is communicatively coupled to the cloud computing system;
- and
- a surgical instrument communicatively coupled to the surgical hub, wherein the surgical instrument comprises:
- an end effector comprising:
- a first jaw;
- and
- a second jaw, wherein the first jaw is configured to move relative to the second jaw;
- a motor configured to move the first jaw relative to the second jaw according to a first closure control program received from the surgical hub;
- and
- a sensor configured to sense a closure parameter of the end effector;
- and
- wherein the surgical hub is further configured to:
- interrogate the sensor to determine the closure parameter of the end effector;
- and
- select a second closure control program, different than the first closure control program, based on the perioperative information and the closure parameter of the end effector.
A surgical instrument, comprising:
- an end effector comprising:
- a first jaw;
- and
- a second jaw, wherein the first jaw is configured to move relative to the second jaw;
- a motor configured to move the first jaw relative to the second jaw according to a first closure control program received from a surgical hub;
