Abstract
A sensor system is configured to communicate at least partially protected sensor data over a communication interface. The sensor system includes a sensor element and a communication interface communicatively coupled to the sensor element. The sensor element is configured to provide sensor data in the digital domain. The communication interface is configured to generate a data package for transmission over the communication interface from the sensor data. The data package includes a data grouping comprising one or more nibbles related to the sensor data. The data package further includes a nibble indicia based on at least a portion of selected nibbles within the data grouping.
Claims20
A method for communicating at least partially protected sensor data over a communication interface, the method comprising:
- providing sensor data in a digital form;
- generating a data grouping comprising one or more nibbles related to the provided sensor data;
- generating a nibble indicia based on at least a portion of selected nibbles within the data grouping;
- forming a data package from the data grouping and the nibble indicia;
- and
- transmitting the data package over the communication interface;
- wherein the nibble indicia is taken over a different number of LSBs for different nibbles of the one or more nibbles in the data grouping.
A method for communicating at least partially protected sensor data over a communication interface, the method comprising:
- providing sensor data in a digital form;
- generating a data grouping comprising one or more nibbles related to the provided sensor data;
- generating a nibble indicia based on at least a portion of selected nibbles within the data grouping;
- forming a data package from the data grouping and the nibble indicia;
- and
- transmitting the data package over the communication interface, wherein each nibble of the one or more nibbles comprises a first falling edge and a first rising edge, wherein a number of clock ticks separates the first falling edge from the first rising edge, and wherein the number of clock ticks indicates an operating mode of the sensor or identifies an individual sensor out of a plurality of sensors communicatively coupled to the communication interface.
A method for communicating at least partially protected sensor data over a communication interface in a sensor system, the method comprising:
- providing sensor data in a digital form using a sensor structure that is configured to ascertain a physical parameter of the sensor system;
- generating a data grouping comprising one or more nibbles related to the sensor data using a communication interface circuit that is communicatively coupled to the sensor structure;
- generating a nibble indicia based on at least a portion of selected nibbles within the data grouping using the communication interface circuit;
- forming a data package from the data grouping and the nibble indicia using the communication interface circuit;
- and
- transmitting the data package over the communication interface using the communication interface circuit,
- wherein the portion of selected nibbles upon which the nibble indicia is based is selected solely from a Least Significant Bit (LSB) of the respective selected nibble, two LSBs of the respective selected nibble, or three LSBs of the respective nibble.
