Box edge security device

A box edge security device comprising:

• an edge seal configured to be attached over an openable edge of a merchandise box where a first structural portion of the merchandise box meets a second structural portion of the merchandise box such that a first portion of the edge seal is disposed against the first structural portion of the merchandise box and a second portion of the edge seal is disposed against the second structural portion of the merchandise box, the edge seal comprising an edge seal recessed groove and a lock aperture;
• and
• a tag assembly comprising a housing and an electronics assembly, contained within a housing, that forms at least part of an alarm system, the housing comprising a tag assembly recessed groove and a lock plug;
• wherein the housing of the tag assembly is configured to slide onto the edge seal via sliding engagement between the tag assembly recessed groove and the edge seal recessed groove until a biasing of the lock plug causes the lock plug to engage the lock aperture of the edge seal to couple the tag assembly to the edge seal.

A box edge security device comprising:

• an edge seal configured to be attached over an openable edge of a merchandise box having a first structural portion and a second structural portion that meet one another along the openable edge, such that a first portion of the edge seal is disposed against the first structural portion of the merchandise box and a second portion of the edge seal is disposed against the second structural portion of the merchandise box, the edge seal comprising an edge seal recessed groove;
• and
• a tag assembly comprising a housing and an electronic article surveillance (EAS) tag contained within a housing;
• wherein the housing of the tag assembly is configured to slide onto the edge seal via sliding engagement between the tag assembly recessed groove and the edge seal recessed groove to couple the tag assembly to the edge seal.
