Projected augmented reality to obscure physical objects

An apparatus to obscure a physical object, the apparatus comprising:

• one or more computer processors and an object obscuring module communicatively coupled to the one or more processors to:
• determine a location of a physical object within a mixed reality environment;
• determine a location of a viewer within the mixed reality environment;
• determine attributes of a snippet area of the mixed reality environment surrounding the physical object, the snippet area being of a size sufficiently larger than a size of the physical object to surround the physical object;
• and
• cause to project a display onto the physical object, based upon at least the location of the physical object with respect to the location of the viewer, and the attributes of the snippet area of the mixed reality environment surrounding the physical object, to obscure the physical object from the viewer.

A method comprising:

• determining a location of a physical object within a mixed reality environment;
• determining a location of a viewer within the mixed reality environment;
• determining attributes of a snippet area of the mixed reality environment surrounding the physical object of a size sufficiently larger than a size of the physical object to surround the physical object;
• and
• projecting a display onto the physical object, based upon at least the location of the physical object with respect to the location of the viewer, and the attributes of the snippet area of the mixed reality environment surrounding the physical object, to obscure the physical object from the viewer.
