Abstract
A display method includes displaying, in a virtual environment, an object to which a light source is set. The method further includes illuminating an area around the object based on the light source.
Claims25
A display method comprising:
- selectively setting a spot light or a point light as a virtual source on a position in a virtual environment;
- displaying, in the virtual environment, an object in the position where the virtual source is set;
- extracting color values of pixels for portions of the object that correspond to positions of the virtual source of light, and
- illuminating an area around the displayed object based on the set virtual source, wherein the illuminating comprises applying the color values to the virtual source, and wherein the spot light is set based on whether the virtual source influences the virtual environment with attenuation,
- wherein an intensity attenuation of the virtual source from the spot light or the point light decreases at increasing distances from where the object is displayed, and
- excluding an illumination effect of the virtual source on the object itself.

A display device comprising:
- a display;
- and
- a processor configured to:
- selectively set a spot light or a point light as a virtual source on a position in a virtual environment,
- display, on the display in the virtual environment, an object in the position where the virtual source is set,
- extract color values of pixels for portions of the object that correspond to positions of the virtual source of light, and
- illuminate, on the display, an area around the object based on the set virtual source,
- wherein the illuminating the area comprises applying the color values to the virtual source, and
- wherein the spot light is set based on whether the virtual source influences the virtual environment with attenuation,
- wherein an intensity attenuation of the virtual source from the spot light or the point light decreases at increasing distances from where the object is displayed, and
- excluding an illumination effect of the virtual source on the object itself.
8 more elements
A display device comprising:
- a display configured to display, in a virtual environment, an image comprising an object;
- an interface configured to receive an input;
- and
- a processor configured to:
- maintain an illumination effect on the object, and change an illumination effect on surroundings of the object, in response to the input, wherein the illumination effect on the surroundings is generated by
- selectively setting a spot light or a point light as a virtual source on a position in a virtual environment,
- displaying, on the display in the virtual environment, the object in the position where the virtual source is set,
- extracting color values of pixels for portions of the object that correspond to positions of the virtual source of light, and
- illuminating, on the display, an area around the object based on the set virtual source,
- wherein the illuminating comprises applying the color values to the virtual source, and wherein the spot light is set based on whether the virtual source influences the virtual environment with attenuation,
- wherein an intensity attenuation of the virtual source from the spot light or the point light decreases at increasing distances from where the object is displayed, and
- excluding an illumination effect of the virtual source on the object itself.
9 more elements
A display device comprising:
- a display configured to display images in frames of a video object;
- and
- a processor configured to:
- change an illumination effect on surroundings of the images per frame of the video object, during playing of the video object, wherein the illumination effect on the surroundings is generated by,
- selectively setting a soot light or a point light as a virtual source on a position in a virtual environment,
- displaying, on the display in the virtual environment, the images per frame of the video object in the position where the virtual source is set,
- extracting color values of pixels for portions of the images per frame of the video object that correspond to positions of the virtual source of light, and
- illuminating, on the display, an area around the images per frame of the video object video object based on the set virtual source,
- wherein the illuminating comprises applying the color values to the virtual source, and
- wherein the spot light is set based on whether the virtual source influences the virtual environment with attenuation,
- wherein an intensity attenuation of the virtual source from the spot light or the point light decreases at increasing distances from where the object is displayed, and
- excluding an illumination effect of the virtual source on the object itself.
9 more elements
A display device comprising:
- a display;
- and
- a processor configured to:
- selectively set, in a virtual environment, a type and a position of a soot light or a point light as a virtual source on a position in the virtual environment,
- display, on the display in the virtual environment, an object in the position where the virtual source is set,
- extract color values of pixels for portions of the object that correspond to positions of the virtual source of light, and
- illuminate, on the display, an area around the object based on the set virtual source,
- wherein the area is illuminated by the virtual source to which the color values are applied, and
- wherein the spot light is set based on whether the virtual source influences the virtual environment with attenuation,
- wherein an intensity attenuation of the virtual source from the spot light or the point light decreases at increasing distances from where the object is displayed, and
- excluding an illumination effect of the virtual source on the object itself.
