Abstract
Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for detecting spike event or transmitting spike event information generated in a neuromorphic chip. The apparatus for detecting spike event generated in a neuromorphic chip may detect spike event information for a plurality of neurons included in the neuromorphic chip based on a neuron group.
Claims15
A method of identifying spike event information, the method comprising:
- grouping, by a spike event detection unit in a neuromorphic chip, neurons in the neuromorphic chip into neuron groups, and grouping neurons in each neuron group into neuron subgroups;
- determining, by the spike event detection unit, a neuron group in which a spike event occurs, from among the neuron groups in the neuromorphic chip during a first clock cycle of the clock cycles;
- determining, by the spike event detection unit, a neuron subgroup in which the spike event occurs, from among the neuron subgroups in the determined neuron group during a second clock cycle of the clock cycles;
- and
- identifying, by the spike event detection unit, address information of a first neuron in which the spike event occurs, from among neurons in the determined neuron subgroup during a third clock cycle of the clock cycles, and
- determining, by the spike event detection unit, that the first neuron generates the spike event, in response to an amount of current received by the first neuron through a synapse being greater than a threshold value,
- wherein the determining of the neuron group, the determining of the neuron subgroup, and the determining of the first neuron are performed using the clock cycles, and a number of the clock cycles to determine the first neuron is not greater than a sum of a number of the neuron groups, a number of the neuron subgroups, and a number of neurons in the determined neuron subgroup.
