Apparatus and method for verifying the identity of an author and a person receiving information

A method for identifying the presence of a particular human, the method comprising:

• a) storing, in a database, a first digital file including (i) information representing a plurality of registered images of an iris of an eye of a registered human, said images obtained coincident with a plurality of physiologic states of said iris, and (ii) alphanumeric information pertaining to said registered human;
• b) receiving, by a processor, a request to identify a putative human as the registered human;
• c) based on receiving the request, generating, by the processor, at least one prompt signal and providing said signal to a prompt producing device;
• d) receiving, by the prompt producing device, the prompt signal;
• e) in response to the received prompt signal, producing, by the prompt producing device, a prompt, and applying the prompt to the putative human, wherein the prompt induces a change in the physiologic state of an iris of an eye of the putative human;
• f) capturing, by a digital camera, a plurality of images of the of the putative human following the application of the prompt and providing a representation of said images to said processor;
• g) comparing, by the processor, (1) the information representing the images of the putative human iris with (2) the stored information representing the registered human iris, and determining a match between the stored information and the inputted information;
• and
• h) generating, by the processor, an output indicating a result of said comparing.
